Groove Tubes Velo-8T Tube Ribbon Mic
This is a beautiful new ribbon mic by Groove Tubes, with a truly amazing sound comparable to a lot of high end vintage ribbon mics!
In our in house testing we compared the Velo-8T to the best of the best in vintage ribbon microphones. The Groove Tubes Velo-8T was a real shocker as it faired extremely well. The sound of this mic is amazing for vocals, acoustic or electric guitar, drum overheads, and it could safely be said that it makes for a great all around workhorse mic that will produce warm, rich results that you would only expect from a vintage RCA ribbon microphone. It is a great mic right out of the box and will deliver that extra sweet sound that we are all trying to achieve with our tracks. Our personal opinion is that producers and vocalist will especially love the depth and beauty this mic brings to the most important element of your tracks, the vocals!
We concluded in our testing that the Velo-8 and the Velo-8T sound identical, but with the Velo-8T having output levels that you would normally expect from a condenser. The internal tube preamp means it can be used with even a budget preamp or mixer, with remarkable results.
